The first private Pharmacy College in Tamil Nadu was started in the year 1980 by Chemists & Druggists of Tamilnadu, forming a Trust in the name of Tamil Nadu Chemists & Druggists Educational Trust registered on 07/03/1980. The College was named as C.L.Baid Metha College of Pharmacy.

The College owns the property at the Prime location on Rajiv Gandhi Salai ( OMR ) purchased by the TNCDE Trust.

After the demise of Mr.Vinod Khanna who was the Chairman from August 1988 to March 2020, the Board was reconstituted on 08/08/2020.
